Conditions & surgery
Conditions treated
Thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal conditions, from routine to complex and revision cases; rare soft tissue and retroperitoneal sarcomas that need experienced specialist management; and surgery for haematological conditions, including splenectomy.
Endocrine surgery
Thyroid surgery
Nodular thyroid disease, multinodular goitre, thyroid cancer, and hyperthyroidism (including Graves' disease), including recurrent and technically complex cases.
Management is guided by careful biochemical and radiological work-up and, where the case warrants it, multidisciplinary input, with the surgical approach tailored to the individual patient and pathology.

Parathyroid surgery
Primary, secondary and tertiary hyperparathyroidism; procedures for parathyroid adenoma and hyperplasia, including revision surgery and focused parathyroidectomy where appropriate.
Management is guided by careful biochemical and radiological work-up and, where the case warrants it, multidisciplinary input, with the surgical approach tailored to the individual patient and pathology.

Adrenal surgery
Adrenal incidentaloma, phaeochromocytoma, Conn's and Cushing's syndrome, and adrenal malignancy, with particular focus on laparoscopic and other minimal access techniques.
Management is guided by careful biochemical and radiological work-up and, where the case warrants it, multidisciplinary input, with the surgical approach tailored to the individual patient and pathology.

Sarcoma surgery
Rare tumours requiring experienced, specialist management, with particular depth of experience in retroperitoneal disease, and multidisciplinary support.
What is treated
Soft tissue sarcomas of the trunk, limbs and retroperitoneum, and other rare mesenchymal tumours.
Why specialist care matters
Retroperitoneal sarcomas are rare, biologically diverse, and sit close to major vessels, kidneys and other organs. Outcomes are strongly influenced by surgical experience and case volume, careful preoperative imaging and biopsy planning, and multidisciplinary sarcoma-unit input.
Each case is worked up with dedicated cross-sectional imaging and, where indicated, image-guided biopsy, before a surgical plan is made. This may involve multi-organ resection, given the anatomical complexity typical of retroperitoneal disease.

Splenectomy and surgery for haematological disorders
Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), autoimmune haemolytic anaemia, hereditary spherocytosis, hypersplenism and splenomegaly, splenic cysts and tumours, and splenopexy for a wandering spleen, with laparoscopic splenectomy wherever it is the safest option.
Each case is planned in close partnership with the referring haematologist, from the timing of surgery to vaccination and platelet or transfusion support beforehand, with clear guidance afterwards on infection prevention and follow-up.
