About Prof Panieri

Experienced, precise and personalised surgical care.

With almost thirty years of experience, Prof Panieri provides considered care for both straightforward and complex surgical conditions. Patients are referred from across South Africa and abroad, often for complex, recurrent or second-opinion cases.

Prof Eugenio Panieri is a Cape Town endocrine and sarcoma surgeon. Since 1997 his practice has centred on surgery of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands and on soft tissue sarcoma, particularly tumours of the retroperitoneum.

His approach rests on excellence, precision and evidence-based surgery, adapted to each patient through personalised care. Difficult cases are planned by a multidisciplinary team, with clear communication and support for patients and referring doctors throughout.

He has a particular interest in laparoscopic and other minimal access surgery, especially for adrenal conditions, wherever this is the safest option for the patient.

A graduate of the University of Cape Town, he remains closely involved in training the next generation of surgeons. His private practice is based at Netcare UCT Private Academic Hospital, with other hospitals available by arrangement.
